Camera Trap Loan Scheme Coordinator (Dartmoor and South Devon)

Pine Martens are back after 150 years - hopefully to stay, though that could depend on you!

This largely administrative role is a great opportunity to make a real and significant contribution to the successful reintroduction of Pine Martens to Devon and Somerset.

Pine martens are one of the rarest mammals in Britain and remain critically endangered in England and Wales. Once a common part of our region’s woodlands, pine martens became extinct throughout most of England and Wales in the 19th century.

A small population has already been released, with a second release planned later on in the project.

For this to be successful it is essential we monitor their health and dispersal, and one of the tools we can use is Camera traps. To this end, we plan to run a Camera Trap loan scheme. In this role you would be co-ordinating that loan scheme, maintaining the equipment and demonstrating its use.
